Quilchena Green is located in the Terra Nova area in Richmond and is an 85 unit gated adult townhome community; it is luxurious, neat and beautiful.

The focal point of the property is a spectacular majestic and calming Pondless™ waterfall with gentle streams that disappear into the natural rock setting.

The waterfall was created by Streamworks Designs who invited us to join in and design the gardens around the water feature.

The client’s wish was for a soothing and relaxing colour pallet combined with our twist on modern west coast design. This resulted in a breath-taking focal point the whole community can enjoy. We created a design with the existing trees and large shrubs crafted carefully. The Garden Guru transplanted, rearranged, and added trees, shrubs and perennials to complement the movement of water and to allow the client to be able to walk through the design while appreciating the water stream and be a part of the garden. We mixed bold black plants such as Black Elder Sambuca, Black Mondo grass and dark mixed varieties of Heucheras with delicate light-coloured Hydrangeas, Rhododendrons and a mixture of pastel colour Perennials such as Astilbe, Brunnera, Lavender and Irises. We included a splash of Chartreuse to brighten up the the definitions of the design with Wilma Cypress and Bowles Golden Carex. Clusters of Hostas and Evergreen Ferns were added for lushness as well as to combine the old with the new with harmony. Blue Star Creeper and Irish Moss ground cover surrounds the entire water feature allowing a footpath to the top with a peaceful bench watching over the design.
