Olympic Village Landmark Living
The Village on False Creek is an award-winning residential development featuring luxury waterfront homes. This high-end residence includes 3 balconies (totalling 263 sq.ft.) that link the indoor rooms with the outdoor space. Each balcony serves a specific purpose – the south for cooking, the west balcony for dining and the east for relaxing. The client’s vision was for a creation of a joyful colourful pallet with seasonal enhancement.
Knowing the amount of sun or shade an outdoor space receives is a key element to growing plants successfully. By carefully choosing plants suitable for the different directions created a sophisticated lush look. The Garden Guru created a sleek, modern design crafted for the west patio, using tall squared tapered black containers fit with thin trellised hardy variegated Euonymus. This keeps the dining area specious and private. The look is completed with lush Chartreuse potato vine plants trailing with hot pink Verbena and fragrant white Alyssum and Bacopa.
On the south, the main kitchen balcony near the BBQ, a large long rectangular planter is designed for full sun. Tall grasses, Black elephant ear, peach colour geraniums, Heucheras and mixed trailers add excitement, texture and cheer. Finally, a culinary herb planter completes the cooking experience.
The east office patio is subtle and sublime. Using round clay containers in mix natural tones and shade loving plants, The Garden Guru created a unique space for relaxing morning coffee or the afternoon breeze.
