The ‘Artech’ is a modern 4 level building with a unique steel and frame façade. This live/work, double-height loft is every artist’s dream. Located in the popular Mt. Pleasant Neighbourhood minutes from Science-world, Downtown and False Creek, this patio offers picture-perfect panoramic view of the whole Lower mainland Pacific ocean and The North Shore mountains. The beautiful, quaint and specious rooftop deck has a large communal area and is fully open-concept for all to enjoy.

The client had a very unique request for this semi-private space. The client asked The Garden Guru to create a complete floor plan for the outdoor space. This includes the placement of furniture, patio accessories and the garden. The entire design had to accommodate the requirements of an unobstructed fire land.

When designing small, semi-private spaces, choosing one colour (natural or black) is important as it ties everything together in sleek, clean, straight lines without wasting valuable space. The Garden Guru used lean Black Terrazzo rectangular and squares planters for structure, then added a layer of clay planters in groups thereby mimicking a lush retreat. By creating diagonal sight view lines, the space feels bigger and the planting changes seasonally.
